Maker Monday: Meet Artizan Coffee and Mazra Foods!

Aug 29, 2016|By Sam Blau
Our featured Makers this week take pride in the high quality of the ingredients they use. Every step of the creation process is carefully planned and monitored to ensure that the final product is perfect every time. It may take a little more time and effort, but it’s all worth it to create naturally yummy snacks and perfectly brewed cups of coffee.

Artizan Coffee

Julio Abril, co-founder of Artizan Coffee, knew that the perfect cup of coffee wouldn’t be easy to create. He also believed that the perfect cup of coffee shouldn’t cost anyone’s health, which is why Artizan’s line of Nespresso Compatible Coffee Capsules are all USDA Certified Organic.

“Conventional coffee is among the most heavily chemically treated foods in the world,” said Mr. Abril. “It’s a commodity crop that is typically saturated with synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides – all of which can be extremely hazardous to farmers, the environment that they rely on to sustain themselves, the surrounding communities and the end consumer.”

The coffee that goes into the capsules is grown using very specific guidelines so that it is both organic and “specialty”. Specialty coffees must achieve a certain score on a 100-point scale to earn the title, and points are awarded based on factors like soil conditions, climate, and altitude.

The Direct Eats team goes through many cups of coffee each morning, so we’re thrilled to be carrying a Maker that creates the perfect morning java. But don’t take our word for it, try out their brews for yourself!

Mazra Foods

Mazra Foods, based in Buffalo, NY, was built on the concept that the ingredients that go into your food matter more than the nutrition facts on the label. This is why co-founders Danny Elkhoury and Bryan Dunn spent close to two years testing and developing their wholesome snacks before releasing them to the public. Every ingredient in every product had to fit their standards for quality and taste.

After testing out multiple manufacturers, they found that the best ingredients came from locals in their area. The honey and maple syrup used in their snack bars comes from local farmers, and all nuts are provided by a local company that produces only the highest grade organic products.

Mazra Foods is also committed to their promise of gluten free, soy free, peanut free, and organic ingredients. Their facilities are completely free of peanuts, and even other tree nuts are carefully roasted to remove any possible cross-contamination. All of their fruit is certified organic, and also comes from facilities that do not process peanuts or tree nuts.

Combining these carefully selected ingredients creates a naturally sweet and healthy snack that you’ll love. Check out all of their tasty bars here on Direct Eats.
