Maker Monday: Meet Lava Love and Cornelia Confections

Our featured Makers this week used their personal backgrounds in health and baking to create treats that they could share with the world. From Oregon to Connecticut, these Makers drew upon their expertise to create the ultimate detoxifying beauty products and the most delicious crunchy sweets. 

Lava Love

Founded by Elisabeth Dunham out of Portland, Oregon, Lava Love is a line of lovingly made beauty products that harness the healing power of clay. When Elisabeth was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2008, she began researching potential natural solutions. She came across the idea of using clay to detoxify her body. By changing her diet and taking regular clay baths, she healed herself over time and went from bedridden to working full time in just a few months.

Elisabeth wanted to share her discovery with the world, so she became a certified nutrition consultant who works with clients all over the world to improve their health using the same system.

Cornelia Confections

Cornelia Parchment-Horn, creator of Cornelia Confections, has an impressive background in baking. She graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City in the Pastry and Baking Arts Program and then continued her education by working as an intern at Daniel Boulud’s, DB Bistro Modern in New York City. There she learned the fine art of chocolate making and other confections and discovered her love of creating sweet treats. From her internship she continued her education by taking an advanced chocolate making course at the Callebaut Chocolate Academy in England.

As a reflection of her Jamaican roots, Cornelia always had an interest in creating unique flavor combinations. After making peanut brittle as gifts for friends and family, she began experimenting with even more flavors, and thus began Brittle Crunch. 
We love that this candy is free of preservatives and corn syrup, and that it’s dairy and gluten free.
