The Manitoba Harvest Story:

Mike Fata, founder, was inspired to create Manitoba Harvest because he was fed up with being overweight (300+ pounds) and constantly fatigued. He made a drastic decision in his diet and focused on eating foods with protein, good fats, and fiber, which are all nutrients found in hemp foods.

Hemp seeds are naturally gluten free, and Manitoba Harvest produces varieties that are gluten-free, soy-free, and grain-free, as well as some Certified Gluten-Free, Certified Vegan, Certified Kosher products. Some products are manufactured in a facility that also handles tree nuts, soy, wheat, and sulfites, while others are manufactured in a facility that handles tree nuts and milk.

Manitoba Harvest is a Certified B corporation, meaning they meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, as well as accountability and transparency. In addition, they are committed to being part of the entire process including working directly with Canadian farmers and making sure the hemp seeds are cultivated non-GMO and are “Natural” and Certified Organic, meaning that products made from the seed have been grown on Certified Organic land, and produced according to strict uniform standards that are verified by a government-designated organization. “Natural” denotes that products are grown using conventional farming techniques and have not been genetically modified. They track each hemp seed as it comes into their facility and can trace every hemp product back to the field it was grown on. They use specially designed packages with lamination to prevent any form of contamination

Hemp, as described, is not the same as marijuana. And Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods products all contain less than 0.001% of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, thus will not cause any psychoactive effect nor will it make you fail a drug test. Instead, focus on the good stuff, Hemp seeds contain numerous nutrients including folic acid, which makes it great for pregnant women. They offer more protein and a broader spectrum of omegas than flax, chia, or peas. It is also a good source of potassium and phosphorus.
